Jesus in the Qur'an - episode 1

- Allah refers to the house of Imran
- This refers to the legacy of Musa (al.)
- Cos Imran was Musa's father
- But, the fact that Allah uses it here, means that Isa (al.) refers to the end of that legacy and the beginning of a new one.
- The concept of isthifa (choice)
- There's a number of words for choice in the Qur'an, but Allah chose to use this one here.
- Isthifa comes from safwa - which means purity
- This suggests that the choice was purely the preference of the one who chose.
- Isthifa is done when it's entirely up to us (like picking a colour of a thing)
- When talking about Allah making a choice based on safwa, we don't have the room the question why he picked what he did.
- Of course all Allah's choices are based on wisdom.
- But we don't have the room to question it.
- Allah did select certain people
- The first choice he made was to pick Adam.
- Explanations of this choice are:
- Allah picked Adam over the angels.
- Allah created all the souls and selected Adam's for the body he had created.
- Adam was sent to the Earth - Allah chose him to receive revelation also.
- Allah chose Nuh
- Humanity was in a single valley at the time
- The ones that survived were the ones with Nuh.
- Adam was the start of humanity. Nuh was the restart of humanity.
- Allah has always made choices that applied to all of humanity.
- Except) despite messengers coming to one community at a time.
- He started with the universals - Adam and Nuh preached to all of humanity.
- Then things became more specific.
- The legacy of prophet hood in the family of Ibrahim was because of
- The tests that Ibrahim had passed
- The dua he had made to make his legacy Muslim.
- Within this legacy was the family of Imran.
- The legacy of Imran was that they kept getting prophet after prophet
- A continuous stream of prophets.
- The legacy of Imran ended with Isa (al.)
- It was started with Musa (al.)
- Isa (al.) was retaight the tawrat, with the addition of the injil.
- Then the legacy of Imran ended.
- Then it became time for the family of Ibrahim (al.) to pick up that legacy from Muhammed (Sal.)
- I'm a subtle way Allah rejects the divinity of Isa (al.) in this, by saying he was of the legacy (family) of Imran.
- Maryam (al.) was mentioned, in Qur'an, as the sister of Haroon
- This seems like a mistake
- But she was someone that learnt and taught tawrat.
- She's supporting the legacy of Musa (al.), as Haroon did.
- In any generation, when anyone revives the legacy of Musa (al.), they are considered a brother (or sister) of Haroon (brother/sister in cause).
- So, this means that people referred to her as the Haroon of her time.
- Maryam (al.) was named similarly to the actual, biological sister of Haroon - Miryam.
- So people (in Sematic culture) were saying she should've been like Miryam.
